MEMORY VERSE: Do not lust after beauty in your heart not let her allure you with her eyelids. Proverbs 6:25
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : Lev 20, Ps 35, Eccl 3, 1 Tim 5
Love
is a Spirit. John 4:24 says God is a Spirit. 1 John 4:8 says God is
love. If God is a Spirit and God is love, then Love is a Spirit.
According to 2 Timothy 1:7 fear, power and love are all spirits. Just as
love is a spirit, lust is also a spirit. The fashion world today is run
by the spirit of lust. You may not believe it but that is the gospel
truth. There are many who follow fashion without understanding. They do
things because everyone is doing it without knowing the intentions
behind them.
What the world calls love is not love but lust. When
you begin to feel funny around a particular brother or sister you are
not married to, that is not love but Lust. When all you love to do is be
alone with someone you are not married to in a room or dark place, that
is Lust.
What is the difference between love and lust? Love
always wants to give but Lust always want to possess. John 3:16 says for
God so loved the world that He gave. Love always want to share but lust
always want to take. Love focuses on the individual but lust focuses on
the looks and body.My sister if all a brother is interested in is in
your looks and body, that brother has the spirit of lust . He may tell
you he loves you but the truth is he is lusting after you.Love always
think of the other party's happiness but lust does not. Lust focuses on
pleasing oneself alone.Lust often leads to unwholesome actions to
fulfill ones desires with no regard to the consequences. Lust is about
greed and possesion. Most importantly Love is of God and Lust is of the
devil. Love is patient but Lust is not. Lust is all about sex. If you
are involved in a relationship and you begin to notice Lust instead of
love, you better leave that relationship because Lust is the first sign
that the relationship will end in disaster.
KEYWORD : Lust is about sex alone. Love is patient but Lust is not.

PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT
MEMORY VERSE: But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Jude 20.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Lev 6, Ps 10, Prov 24, 1 Thes 3
What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? You see many equate praying with the spirit to praying in the Spirit. To pray with the spirit simply means to pray in tongues, for example Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:15, ‘what is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.’ Praying in the Spirit means to pray by means of the Holy Spirit or with the help of the Holy Spirit. It is praying according to the Spirit’s leading or praying for things the Spirit leads us to pray for. Romans 8:26 says we likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.
When we pray in the Spirit we are praying according to the will of God. The Holy Spirit searches the mind of God and brings prayer points for us to pray on. When the Holy Spirit leads you to pray for a particular brother or sister, or leads to pray about a particular matter please pray about it. Most of the mishaps that happen in the body of Christ could have been avoided if only people prayed when the Holy Spirit asked them to pray. When you pray in the Spirit you are destroying the plans of the enemy. Not too long ago I shared the story of a man of God who the Holy Spirit led to pray against the loss of huge amount of money. At the point when the Holy Spirit was leading him to pray, he was not involved in any business dealings so the prayer point made little or no sense to him but he prayed. Several weeks later some men introduced him to some business, the men wanted to dupe him of his life savings but the Holy Spirit destroyed the plan and exposed these men because he prayed when the Holy Spirit led him to.
Ephesians 6:13 says wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye maybe able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Do you know that when you pray in the Spirit, what you are doing is you are putting on one of the armour of God? Ephesians 6:18 says praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watch thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
When you pray in the Spirit you get more results from your prayer life. I remembered a sister told me she was going for an interview and the Holy Spirit led me to pray with her. I asked her if she didn’t mind if a common church cleaner prayed with her and she said no problem. We said a very short prayer and she left for the interview. An hour later or so she called saying she got the job. What really amazed her was the interviewer did not really ask her any question aside when she was available to start. Instead of spending hours praying and binding the devil, losing and casting demons, the Holy Spirit led us to pray for favor and we did just that and the Lord took control.
PRAYER POINT: Father, as from now on help me to pray more in the Spirit.

FEAR: A LIMITER
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ex 22, John 1, Job 40, 2 Cor 10
Anyone who will possess his or her possession in Christ must first
deal with fear. Not only that, anyone who will reach the top must deal
with fear. One of the tools the enemy has been using to keep the
children of God at the same position year after year Is fear. Proverbs
29:25 says that the fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his
trust in the LORD shall be safe. Despite all the measures God put in
place to protect Job, he managed to get himself into trouble by engaging
in fearful thoughts. Job himself said for the thing which I greatly
feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me,
Job 3:25. There are many who the fear of witches and wizards have
prevented from making progress. They believe if they make any progress,
the enemy will come after them. Have you forgotten the bible says that
greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world, 1 John 4:4?
According to Luke 10:19, He has given you power to tread on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by
any means hurt you.
To realize one’s potential in Christ, there are two types of fear
we need to deal with. Firstly – Fear of failure. This was what hindered
eleven of the twelve disciples of Jesus from walking on water.
Everything was set for them; Jesus himself was on the water. All they
needed to do was take a step of faith out of the boat but they did not
because of the fear of failure. The fear of what if robbed them of their
opportunities. The next time the enemy tells you what if you fail,
reply him and say what if I don’t fail or what if i succeed. Secondly –
fear of responsibility. From the story of Gideon, we will notice that he
was born a great man. According to the register in heaven he was a
mighty man. That was why the angel asked him to go in his might to
deliver his nation from the hand of the Midianites, Judges 6:4. The fact
that he was the last born of his father had nothing to do with his
divine assignment. He was just using it as an excuse to run away from
the responsibility of leading his nation to victory. The fear of
responsibilities has robbed many of great future. People suffering from
the fear of responsibilities are easy to know, anytime they are sharing
duties in the church you will see them running away or giving excuses.
The reason why many do not want to work in the vine yard of God is
because of fear of responsibilities. The question is how can you become
what God has created you to be without taking responsibilities. The
higher you go, the more the responsibilities. Until we deal with these
fears, we will remain at the position.
PRAYER POINT: Father, please uproot the root of fear in me today.

SPIRIT OF FEAR
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR Ex 8, Luke 11, Job 25-26, 1 Cor 12
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
From our memory verse we conclude fear is a spirit. Faith is also a spirit. The difference between fear and faith is that fear is of devil and faith is of God. According to Hebrews 11:6, without faith it is impossible to please God. Fear is like a thief. John 10:10 says the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Fear also steals, kills and destroys. It can either rob one of his or her peace; cause one to worry unnecessarily which might lead to the development of some terrible disease or cause one to take an irrational decision one might live to regret for life. Fear at times could lead to impatience and the price of impatience is very costly. Impatient people always live to regret their impatience. Faith on the other hand leads to peace and life.
God is not a God of fear but of faith. He does not put fear in people’s heart. God never comes with a message of fear but of courage and faith. In Acts 27:8-24, a tempestuous wind called Euroclydon rose against the ship Paul was sailing in. This wind tossed the ship everywhere; for fourteen days they neither saw the sun nor the stars. As terrible as the situation was, the first thing the angel of the Lord said when he appeared was fear not Paul. When the children of Israel found themselves in trouble and began to fear for their future, the Lord sent his word through His prophet telling them fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. When you search through the Holy Scriptures, most of the time when God sends an angel or messenger to people, they will always start with ‘fear not’. While Zacharias was burning incense in the temple, angel Gabriel appeared to him and he was very troubled. The first thing angel Gabriel said to him was fear not Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard, Luke 1:12-13. When Joseph found out that Mary was pregnant with child of the Holy Ghost, he was scared and he began to consider putting her away privily. The angel of the Lord appeared to him in the dream and said ‘fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, Matthew 1:18-20. The bible says for God hath not giving us the spirit of fear but of love and sound mind. If there is any one giving you messages of fear, be wary of them. Any prophesies or messages that bring fear rebuke them because it is not of the Lord. Most of the time people use messages of fear to con you out of money. They ask you to bring money so that they can pray or fast for you to prevent something terrible from happening to you. Fear indicates the absence of love and anywhere love is missing, God is missing because God is love, 1 John 4:8. As you begin this week, do not allow fear in your heart. Do not give room to the spirit of fear. Do not entertain fear thoughts – thoughts that something terrible will happen to you; thoughts that you will not get what you want; thoughts that you will fail or suffer shame e.t.c. All these thoughts are from the devil.
KEY WORD: Fear is of the devil. In the presence of God, there is fullness of Joy not fear.

IS THIS OF GOD?
Wednesday 8 August Bible in one year: Joshua 7-9
Memorise: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:and that is that spirit of antichrist , whereof ye have heard that it should come;and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:3
Read: 1 John 4:1-3
Moses had a supernatural experience in witnessing a bush that was on fire but was not consumed. As good as such an experience may look, it is important to know the person behind the experience. Some people erroneously believe that because they have a supernatural encounter during childhood or at some point in their lives, that they automatically become the child of God or His messenger. Nothing can be further form the truth! If all Moses saw was the supernatural sight, without encountering the personality behind the sight, he would have been no relevance. There are many religious leaders in the world, who have had some supernatural encounter but the question is :Who is behind their encounter? Some of them think it is God and say so, but their fruits are opposite that of Christ. A religion that is based on salvation by works cannot be the same with a faith that is based on salvation through grace. A religion where Jesus Christ is denied His place as the son of God cannot be of the same source with a faith where Jesus Christ is God the Son.Most religion of the world will claim their supernatural experience came from God but 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 says the devil transforms himself into an angel of light whenever he wants to deceive people.
Even today , the devil is still behind quite a number of supernatural experiences . Some people see certain apparitions of Mary and believe it is Mary the mother of Jesus that they are seeing. 1 John 4:1 says
Beloved , believed not every spirit , but try the spirits whether they are of God: because may false prophets are gone out into the world.
Don’t just believe every assertion , test the spirit behind it! In many churches today, while the leaders openly call on the name of Jesus, they secretly call on the devil, who is the behind magical operations and deceptions taking place. If you are a true believer in Christ, if you see another believer in Christ, you will have a witness. Any experience of follow up of any supernatural experience that is contrary to the written Word of God makes that experience not of God. God cannot violate His words. Be wise ! Prayerfully test the spirits.
KEY POINT: If Satan brings fire in the sky, that does not change him from being Satan. And if God is silent on an issue that does not make him any less of who He is.
