MEMORY VERSE: and when he saw them, he said unto them, Go and shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed, Luke 17:14
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deut 21, Ps 108-109, Isa 48, Rev 18
BIBLE STUDIES: Matthew 14:19-21
When the going gets tough, look up to the heavens. When it seems like the enemies are closing in on you look to heaven. When you are weak and lack the strength to continue look to heaven. When you look to the right and to the left and there is no one to call on look up to the heavens. The Psalmist says I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth, Psalms 121:1-2. After looking up to the heaven, what next? First thank Him and then table your concerns before the Almighty. If you cannot think of anything, thank Him for the gift of life. As we discussed yesterday, only the living has challenges and only the living has hope. Job 14:7 says for there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that tender branch thereof will not cease. If there is hope for a tree when it is cut down, there is hope for you!
After Jesus blessed the name of the Lord, He did something interesting. Matthew 14:19 says and he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. After praying, He took actions in other words He took a step of faith. After blessing the Lord He broke the five bread and two fishes and gave His disciples to share them. The problem with many believers is they want the bread and fish to multiply before they start sharing. That is not how it is done, after praying you take a step of faith.
After Jesus prayed nothing really happened. The bread and fishes did not suddenly become a 1000. Before He prayed, He had five bread and two fishes. After He prayed, He still had five bread and two fishes, the question is what then multiplied the bread and fish? His step of faith.Don’t wait for physical manifestation before you know God has answered. Jesus told the ten lepers to go and show themselves to the priests, Luke 17:11-19. After Jesus prayed for these men, nothing really happened. They were lepers before the prayers, they were lepers after the prayer but the bible records that as they went, they were cleansed. As they took the step of faith, the power of God was activated in their matter. You situation will change when you take a step of faith!
KEYWORD: Your step of faith activates the mighty of power of God.

PROFITTING FROM WISDOM
Proverbs 11:17 the merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ex 12, Luke 15, Job 30, 1 Cor 16
What is wisdom? Wisdom is simply the application of knowledge. It is founded on the fear of the Lord. Psalms 111: 10 says the fear of the Lord is beginning of Lord. One thing with the wise people is that they are always reflecting. They reflect on the consequences of their actions and words. Before they reply an email or text messages in anger they sit and think. It is very unwise to reply or send e-mails or text messages in anger or engage in a heated conversation with your spouse in the kitchen. The bible admonishes us to pray and watch, Matthew 26:41. Many pray day and night but do not watch. Applying wisdom is a form of keeping watch. God has answered many prayer requests but the lack of wisdom has delayed the manifestation. There are many today who have lost their advantage in Christ by not applying wisdom.
The question is how does one profit from wisdom? I will share a story which will shed light on the importance of wisdom. Some police men went to arrest a young man. Whilst trying to arrest this man, there was a bit of misunderstanding. The senior brother of this man heard people shouting and ran out. When he came out, he saw around four police men with his brother and instead of asking what the problem was, he ran and grabbed an iron rod and broke the windscreen on the police car. The police men shot him right on the spot and he died. The case was taking to court and the police defended their action by saying they shot him in self defence. Looking at the damage done to the police vehicle, they were freed. The disappointing thing was the brother of the diseased was later found innocent. Although they paid him compensation, the senior brother lost his life because of few moments of anger .If only he had asked what the problem was; he could still be alive now. Proverbs 11:17 says the merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubelth his own flesh. Some years ago myself and a member of staff engaged in a heated argument. She stormed out and joined her colleague. Ten minutes later, I called her colleague to check something with him and i overheard her in the background threatening to slap me .I was angry and the fact that it was coming from a junior member of staff in public did not help matters. I had the option of conducting a 1-2-1 and that would have led to her dismissal because she was threatening a management staff but I reflected on the consequences and decided to address the issue later. I tried to discuss the matter with her but she gave me a terrible attitude. God so good I knew a brother who attended the same church with her so I contacted her pastor. After a brief a chat with the pastor, the sister apologised and we moved on. Two years later, I heard a major challenge at work and I was suspended. During this period the only person who called me to give me inside information of what the management were planning against me was this lady. It was not because others did not care, they cared but this lady was the only one who could get me this information. God mightily used her during this period. The question is if I had reacted in anger and orchestrated her sack, who would helped me get during the challenge?
PRAYER POINT: Father as from now on help to profit from wisdom.

HOW TO WALK ON WATER
Matthew 14:29 – so He said “Come”. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
To walk on water is a great feat in Jesus. Peter is the only man recorded in history to have walked on water. This man achieved something his fellow disciples could only dream off. He achieved something no man in the history of this world had achieved. The bible is filled with examples of men and women of God who achieved something no man in history achieved. For example, Abraham is the only man in history who cooked for God and God ate his food. Joshua is the only man in history who was recorded to have paused time. He told the sun to stand still upon Gibeon, and the moon in the valley of Ajalon, Joshua 10:12.There are others like Daniel; Shadrach, Meshach and Abed- Nego; Joseph to mention a few. How were they able to achieve this? What was in the life of Peter that was missing in the life of the other disciples?
Firstly, Peter was a man who knew how to take advantage of opportunities. The opportunity came to Abraham to entertain God and he took it. Joshua had the opportunity to work for God and lead Israel; He grabbed with both hands. The opportunity came to twelve disciples but only Peter took it. There are opportunities today to entertain God; opportunities to walk with God; opportunities to work for God please grab them with both hands. Secondly, Peter had faith in Jesus. Mark 9:23 says all things are possible to him who believes. Faith is free and you do not have to pay for it. Faith is not something you look for, you have it already in you, and all you need is just to deploy it. It took a lot of faith in Jesus for Peter to make that request to walk on water with Him. It took a huge faith in God’s ability to save for David to take on Goliath – a giant and a champion. In the history of the world, no man had ever walked out of fire without even his clothes getting burnt except the three Hebrew men. Their strong faith in God made this happen. Thirdly, Peter was willing to step out of his comfort zone. Sitting quietly in the boat was more comfortable than walking on water. The reason why many have not been able to achieve great feats for Jesus is because they love their comfort zone. It is more comforting not to try at all than try and fail. Abraham first had to leave his comfort zone – his land, family and father’s house to an unknown place. Anyone who wants to achieve anything major in Jesus must be ready to get out of his comfort zone. He must be ready to move out of been an ordinary church member to become a worker; from praying for few minutes to praying for at least an hour and also conducting night vigils at home; from just paying tights and offering to giving God gifts that cost them ; and from been shy to witnessing about Jesus in the public. The three Hebrew men proudly talked about God to the most powerful man on earth – Nebuchadnezzar. Lastly, Peter was able to achieve this feat because he was obedient to Jesus. When Jesus said “come”, He was referring to all the disciples but only Peter came. The other disciples acted like they did not hear Jesus when He said “come”. They Ignored Jesus but Peter did not.
KEY POINT: To achieve anything major in Jesus, you must be ready to: 1- take advantage of the opportunity to work for God; 2 – have faith in Jesus; 3 – move out your comfort zone and 4- obey Him.
