Memory verse: And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. 1 kings 22:8
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 11-13
One of the mistakes some of us make is, when we are given counsel, we twist the counsel and claim that we are being insulted. A man, who had just acquired a property, was speaking to his friend who was looking to acquire a property. As they conversed, the one who had just acquired a property asked his friend (who was looking to acquire a property), how much deposit do you have for the mortgage? (The man bought the property on mortgage and the friend was seeking to do the same too). The friend mentioned the figure, (it was enough to get a mortgage), the fellow who had just acquired the property counseled his friend to shelve the idea for a short while and save more. The friend who was looking to acquire a property went ballistic, oh…. what are you trying to say…. Are you calling me a poor man…. Is it because I asked you a question, that’s why you are insulting me...Bla, Bla, Bla. At the end, he stormed out angrily. All the friend said was, you do not have enough funds to secure a mortgage, he took it personal and twisted it to mean that the friend was calling him a poor man. He stopped talking to the friend, later he did something he should not have done and that landed him in jail.
Ahab was guilty of this too. Any time the prophet gave him a counsel that was not what he wanted to hear, he would twist it to mean something else. Because Micaiah had not been saying things he wanted to hear, he told Jehoshaphat that Micaiah hated him. 1 Kings 22: 8 says And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. Before Micaiah arrived at the scene, Ahab had concluded in his heart that Micaiah would prophesy evil about him. Most of the counsel, Micaiah gave to Ahab was about his future. Micaiah told Ahab, go back, the Lord will not go with you. Ahab took it personal, and jailed Micaiah. At the end, he went and was defeated. Not only that, he perished. What advice, have you been given, that you have twisted and taken personal? Your pastor said, don’t marry that guy, you said your pastor hates you. You were counseled to study Economics instead of Medicine; you got angry and said, oh they are indirectly telling me that I do not have the brain to study Medicine. The pastor counseled you to submit to your husband, you said he is calling you a rebellious woman. The enemy uses this mindset to put a lot of people in bondage and get them in trouble. I remember a particular sister was denied visa, she got angry and said things are always working against her. Meanwhile, she was the one who did not fill the form correctly. Your boss advised you to smile more; you twisted it to mean that he is saying you are not friendly. Someone asked you for a receipt, you got angry and said the fellow is calling you a thief.
PRAYER POINT: Father, please help me to accept the truths that will transform my life.

BECOMING YOUR OWN PROPHET
MEMORY VERSE: and it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions ( Joel 2:28)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judg 12, Acts 16, Jer 25, Mark 11
Back in Old Testament times, only those who are anointed to operate in the office of a prophet can prophesy. In those days if a nation or an individual is facing a challenge they will run to a prophet of God, once he or she prophesy everything will return to normal. When the women in the house of Abimelech could not conceive including his female servants, he went to a prophet who prayed and they all conceived (Genesis 20:1-17). When the king of Syria found out that one of his general had a disease medical science could not cure, he sent him to a prophet in Israel (2 Kings 5:1-17). Elisha told the general to go and dip himself in river Jordan seven times, that one did as he was told and he was cleansed. In Judges 4:1-22, Deborah the prophetess prophesied to Barak that the Lord had delivered Jabin( king of Canaan) into his hands. That one went to war against Jabin; the king of Canaan ran away on foot.
Once a sincere and God fearing prophet get involve in a situation, whatever the mountain is it will give way. If a prophet of God blesses a fellow, Heaven has no choice than to honor the request but if a prophet of God curses a fellow God have mercy. Back in the Old Testament times, you require a fellow anointed to operate in the office of a prophet to prophesy to you, God help you if the prophet of God is far away or is not your friend. Today you do not need a man anointed to operate in the office of a prophet to prophesy to you, you can now prophesy to yourself. Joel 2:28 says and it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. When you study this verse very well, it did not say your sons and daughters shall become prophets and they will prophesy. It says they shall prophesy.
The sons and daughters referred to in Joel 2:28 are me and you. Once the Holy Spirit is inside you, you can now prophesy and expect results. Numbers 14:28 says as truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears so will I do to you. Someone might ask that how come when I prophesy nothing happens. Firstly only the righteous can prophesy and expect a result. Proverbs 12:6b says the mouth of the righteous shall deliver them. Proverbs 15:29b says but He heareth the prayer of the righteous. Secondly if you do not respect your words, the heaven will not respect your words. The way you treat your words, is the way the heavens will treat your word. If you do not regard your words, heaven will not regard it. No wonder the bible says let your yes be yes and your no be no (Matthew 5:37). In other words say what you mean and mean what you say.
ACTION: Repent of all unrighteous ways of life. Begin to study your bible and do everything possible to keep your words.

WATCH YOUR CONFESSIONS
MEMORY VERSE: Say unto them, as truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you. Numbers 14:28
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Lev 4,Ps 1-2, Prov 19, Col 2
If anyone tells you that once you give your life to Christ there will be no problems they are telling you a big lie. Jesus told us in John 16:33 that we should expect challenges. Psalm 34:19 buttresses this point by saying that the righteous will have many challenges. Do you know that as a Christian, if everything is going on sweet and nice at all times with no challenges once in a while you should be worried? Oh yes you should be worried because it could be that enemy does not see you as a threat to his kingdom. If you are a threat to the kingdom of darkness, the enemy would want to challenge you once in a while. Anyone who will amount to something in life will face challenges or opposition. If God has got big plans for you, expect the enemy to challenge you or shake you a little. The bigger the plan of God for your life, the bigger the challenges or opposition you might face but do not entertain fear because the Holy One of Israel has already said that no weapon that is formed against you will prosper, and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn, Isaiah 54:17.
During these challenges watch your confessions because whatever God hears you say is what He will do. Your confessions will decide if you will overcome the challenges or not. How you answer during adversity will determine the end result of the adversity. Moses and the children of Israel faced a big challenge or opposition in Exodus 14:9-31. Before them was the red sea, behind them was the host of the Egyptians, to the sides were mountains. When everyone began to scream and cry, Moses told them ‘fear not and hold your peace, the Egyptian you see today, you shall see them no more’. Moses confessed victory and at the end of the day all the host of Egyptians perished in the red sea. When David stood before Goliath, instead of saying I am doomed or I am finished, he told Goliath I will cut of your head, 1 Samuel 17:46. I bet Goliath must have been shocked by this statement because the tiny fellow who was promising to cut his head had no sword. Actually all he had on him was a little sling and stones but guess what before the evening of that day David cut of Goliath’s head!
Not too long ago I had a major challenge at work and it seemed that I was going to be sacked. I was suspended from work and while I was at home, people would call to check on me. I told them ‘ I will not be sacked’. I told them it is written in the bible Christ in me the hope of glory not shame, Colossians 1:27. I kept on confessing that I will return to work and by the special grace of God, God gave me my job back.
KEYWORD: How you respond in adversity will determine the outcome.

Watch your tongue
Proverbs 21:23 says whosoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
The most powerful member of our body is the tongue. With the tongue we can start war, with the same tongue we can put an end to war. With our tongue, we can conquer the devil. Revelations 12:11 says they conquered him (the dragon) by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony. With our words and the blood of Jesus, we can render any evil dream powerless. What we confess in the midst of adversity determines the outcome. When something terrible happens, it is not the time to start crying or complaining. It is the time to confess the results we want. When facing challenges, we can prophesy our way into victory. Whilst everything was going wrong for Job, he said I shall come forth as gold, Job 23:10. Job had the reasons to say his life was destroyed, or he will never make it again or ask why me? He could say a lot but instead of confessing the negative, he said I will come forth as gold and he did come out gold at the end. When the son of the great Shunamite died in 2 Kings 18-37, she began to confess it is well .When the husband asked her, she said it is well. When Elisha saw her coming, he sent his servant to check if all is well and she told the servant all is well. Instead of confessing that her life is destroyed like most women would do, some will even take it to another level by asking ‘where will I start from?'Instead of crying she began to confess all is well and at the end all was well. When Jesus was informed of the death of Lazarus, He said our friend Lazarus is sleeping; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep, John 11:11.
Why is the tongue so powerful? Firstly, the power of life and death resides in it, Proverbs 18:21. Secondly, our words decide our possession .Proverbs 13:2 says a man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth: Thirdly, by our careless use of words we are trapped .Proverbs 6:2 says you are snared by the words of your mouth. Fourthly, God acts on our words not our heart desire. Number 14:28 says as you have spoken in my ear, says the Lord, so shall I do unto you. Don’t ever confess what you do not want because what you confess is what will happen .Joel 3:10 says let the weak say I am strong. It does not matter what you are going through today, it is what God hears you say that will happen. It does not matter
what the doctors say or the news all I know is it shall be with me. I know my tomorrow will be alright. I know I will make it the top .What about you?
ACTION POINT: Be your own prophet and begin to prophesy the results you want in that endeavor.
